I can't help but think of a 'French and Saunders' episode, which was a FOTR spoof. Dale Winton was Saruman. On the BBC site I found a movie where French and Saunders are chatting in Orthanc. When Dawn French asks Jennifer Saunders who Saruman is, Saunders replies 'Cher?'. French and Saunders is definitely the best show!
