OOC for Possible new RPG: 'The flight from Dol Guldur.' Interested?

I am hoping to start a new Roleplay game- 'the flight from Dol Guldur.'
It is based on the story of the time that King Thranduil of Mirkwood and his people had to flee from southern Mirkwood (Dol Guldur) and leave for the northern forest. Some of you will know of this one- if you've read the ROTK appendixes.
My concept is for it to be written in the 1st person (eg- I, we, us, etc.) So it'll be easier to make your own part!
Compulsory character positions have to be filled, and one of them is Legolas. Please ask me if you're interested in having his part for the RPG! ;) I will be playing King Thranduil- any people interested are welcome. Simply ask here and mention your character (Any one you like!), and you're in to the RPG!

Ok, good. I know this probably isn't necessary, but here's my Character profile:

Name: Legolas Thranduilion, Prince of Mirkwood

Age: Does anyone know? I think, at this point, it will only be a couple of hundred.

Appearance: I'm going with the movie appearance, so blond hair, blue eyes etc.

Weapons: Bow, and a pair of knives. Very skilled with both.

Heritage: Son of King Thranduil, he will inherit the realm of Mirkwood if his father dies (which we all know doesn't happen, the inherit bit, I mean) He is half Sindar, half Silvan, and hasn't lived terribly long, so he doens't have a long history. His grandfather, Oropher, was killed in the Last Alliance, thus Mirkwood is not over-friendly with men or the elves of Imladris.

Legolas' current age is apparently 2931, but yes, he will probably be about... hmm, shall we say somewhere between 600 and 900? I dunno. Whatever. Sure is pretty though! :blush:

I have done, thanks. I'm sorry it was a bit long, but I wanted to introduce my character properly. btw, Legolas' two friends' profiles are here. I didn't realise I was going to use them until I started writing my post, so I hadn't posted their profiles. They aren't my characters, btw, I nabbed them from the Mellon Chronicles, so Cassia and Siobhan need to forgive me for that :)

Name: Raniean
Age: A little younger than Legolas, but only a couple of years.
Appearance: Not so tall as Legolas, with dark hair and grey eyes. He has a ready smile and loves jokes.
Weapons; Bow and knives, like Legolas
Heritage: His father, Randomir, is one of Thranduil's two captains. Raniean has grown up with Legolas and Trelan and is great friends with both of them. He has trained hard to be a warrior and is almost as skilled as Legolas.

Name: Trelan
Age: A little older than Ran and Legolas
Appearance: Short, for an elf, with blond hair and green eyes. He, too, has a ready smile and loves jokes.
Weapons: Bow and knives
Heritage: His father is under Randomir's command, an officer of some level. He grew up in a village a little apart from the Palace but spent most of his childhood around with Legolas and Raniean. He envies them both their height, but knows there is nothing he can do about it.

Well, I was thinking that Thranduil could be getting ready to arm his warriors, but not many of them are going to succeed. Then I thought, well, there could be some kind of huge forest fire and many of our chars get split up or go into hiding or something... but we'll take it as it comes! lol Don't wanna rush, so we could have some conversation scenes with our chars, whaddya think? :grin:

OK, here's a profile:

Name: Melathwen
Age: 6485 (Born in the First Age)
Appearance: The long golden hair of the House of Finarfin, startling blue eyes that are deeper than the night sky, and sun-kissed skin. Her hair is a deep gold, shimmers when she moves and highlights her clear red lips. Her eyes usually hold a mischeivous glint. Quite tall and very slender, she is strong but never looks it, which is quite an advantage.
Weapons: Long bow of dark wood, two long knives in her quiver, and a long sword. Can fight very well with them, though is not often called to do so.
Horse: Tall, proud creature with black coat and a white star. Name of Daerind.
History: She is the daughter of Finrod Felagund, although she has no idea how her mother got prenant by him. She was not told this until she was one thousand, by which time Finrod was dead (I think). She trained hard to be a warrior because she hates being helpless, and for the same reason trained as a healer. Galadriel, as her second-cousin, welcomed her to Lorien, as did Elrond in Imladris, who she learned healing from. She never heard from her mother after the elf left to look for Finrod when she had told Melathwen of her father's identity.
Other: She is now one of Galadriel's maidens, one of the elite twelve, although many wonder how she ever managed that with her nature, her ancestry is not widely known. She was sent to warn Mirkwood of the increasing number of orcs that are appearing all over the world again.

I was wondering about the maiden... she sounds brilliant so far and I'm sure she'll be more significant as the story goes along. (She must be important if she's the daughter of Finrod... so we'll make conversation with her soon enough! ;)) I'm not sure whether Thranduil will take to her immediately; he won't really want to know anyone connected with Finrod because of military reasons, but I'm sure that'll be changed as the RPG gets on! :grin:

Onilalle, atar means father, not mother. Just so you know, I don't know whether you want to change it, mother is not mentioned in the Sil, but atar is definitely listed as being father. I don't know what mother is, though, as it isn't listed. Some people say it's nana, but I'm not sure.

I get confused with Ada and Atar cos I swore I saw 'atar' being used for 'mother' in another fic... maybe they made the same mistake! Ah, I feel dumb! :p

If you wanted to change it, you could ask Dawn or Tirith (I think Tirith's a mod) to change it for you. They can, Dawn, at least, since they're mods, the rules don't apply to them in the same way. But I don't know what they'd change it to, except english. You could ask Wil what mtoher is, she'd probably know. Anyway, someone please post! Onilalle, preferrably you, since Legolas is really waiting for your answer now! I want to post again!! lol

I have another lil elfling for Thranduil to deal with in store; I am very fond of kiddies... Elflings are so cute. :blush:
I have a thought; when the people have to flee, Legolas could take Elverion with him. I want to have a bigger part for Lustelvive, BTW Etain! She's going to have to be quite brave now, if ya get me! ;) Oh and girls, the story is going fantastic at the mo- keep it up! :thumbs:

Name: Elverion
Age: Six
Appearance: Quite short, at least at the moment, with longish brown hair and deep brown eyes. He has naturally pale skin and slender hands that take well to a bow. He is very slender nad shorter than most elflings his age.
Personality: He is shy, yet likes to be the centre of attention if he knows his audience well. He is exuberant and full of energy, and likes playing tricks and getting up to mischief. In short, he will keep Legolas' hands full!
History: He never knew his father, who was killed before he was born, and his mother has just been killed by orcs. Legolas has agreed to take care of him, and bring him up, with a little help from Eruanna, Melathwen, Lustelvive and of course Thranduil.

How far is Laketown away from Mirkwood?

I think it's about a week's journey, by horseback. That's a point... do any of them have horses? And where? It seems impossible that they would not, yet no mention has been made of any. Well, it's something to think on. It would probably take between half again and twice as much time to cover the distance on foot.

I think as they're elves they can probably do without. ;) It'd be too much hassle to get them all the way to Laketown... plus I think Thranduil said in one of the RPG posts to 'get any provisions' so they should be sorted :grin:

Well, you're the one who asked ;) Anyway, elves do ride... bareback. Remember in TTT with the Rohirrim? Legolas says he doesn't need the saddle and let the Rohirrim keep it while he rides bareback. Although, I can't imagine that riding with a broken arm is very easy. You kind of need two, even if you don't have reins. Ah, well. If they don't have horses here, then they don't :)

Race:Orc Cheiften
Age:56
Decription: He is dressed in rags and scraps of armour stolen from many battles, His face is a mess of scars and his main facial feature is that he has lost both his eyes (In a battle I gues ;))and now has a greasy rag covering the sockets. He rides a Warg known only and Thra'gra and has waste length greasy hair. He rules over a rag tag group of Ork war veterans survivors of many battles, they number about 200 in total and are all hard as nails. Though Grakar is blind his other senses ar heightened so he fights if anything better than he normally would.
Weapons: He carries a small badly crafted long bow which see litle action and the twin blades doom and gloom he says they were given to him by Sauron himself but who knows.
