I wonder why Sam didn't get Sauron's attention when he used The Ring @ Cirith Ungol, I don't remeber Tolkien explaining that, if I'm mistaken, please correct.
or could the reason just have been because its fiction and ProfT decided to make it so
or is it an "oops" like Glamdring surviving the fall with the Balrog
or did his resisting the temptation overpower the Ring for a short while

ive always had the idea.....and it is only a theory...that the reason the ring made folks so visible to Sauron is that it focussed thier thoughts onto one thing....itself...made thier minds a laser beam of thought rather than the diffuse mixture of thoughts and emotions that they are usually....and that Sam when he had the ring wasnt actaully concerned with it at all.....heheheh just a thought.....

hmmm, i'm not sure. i can remember it saying that the great eye was searching through the blackness it created, but i'm not sure if that was for that scene. probably just sam was unusually resilliant to the ring, like all hobbits, as elrond says in the movie. and possibly a bit of poetic license

I think sam was more concerned with Frodo than with the ring in the short time he had it. That's why Saruon didn't notice that Sam had it becasue Sam really didn't even think about the ring.

I agree. If you don't think about the ring, you can overpower it, if only for a short time.

i've never really thought about it but i think that that's probably the reason....
