The elves... "Tra La La Lalley, Down in the Valley"- when Bilbo first sees the elves. ( I hope Jackson changes them if he does 'Hobbit') .
Also, Riddles in the Dark. That could be so scary on film.....
Oh, yeah, and "Barrels out of Bounds".

I think the part with the spiders could make for quite an interesting scene on TV, if properly done. Or it might just come across as cheap, but we'll find out, won't we? (Actually maybe not, but that's not the point.) I'd like to see the elves, too; they seemed so much happier in the Hobbit than in the Lord of the Rings.

mmm Im curious how he does the elves.. its rather tricky ground as they're showed how the dwarves see them in a way, but there is NO escaping the facts like drunken elves. (:
As to scene I'd like to see... it's deffo the first time Bilbo gets in and talks with Smaug... I have always almost seen the dragon and not smelled the hobbit while reading the book if you know what I mean. I hope it doesn't get ruined in the movie.

Well, PJ already is pretty experienced with the whole spider thing.... having done Shelob already. The spiders in the Hobbit could be really good looking.
Oh yeah, and I love the scene when the dwarves sing the song about going on the adventures, when they play their instruments, and Bilbo's "Tookish" side comes out just for a little while......

Smaug.
Smaug, first, second and third.
Smaug hunting for the opening of the tunnel which Bilbo used.
Smaug talking to Bilbo.
Smaug attacking laketown.

As already said, I am greatly looking forward to Riddles in the Dark. If it if filmed at its best, it will be truely remarkable. I also want to see if some of the parts that were taken out in the cartoon will still be in it. :nono:

I'd really like to see the scene where Bilbo first sees Smaug and the elven scene as well. Oh, and the spiders. And the trolls. And Beorn. And at the very beginning, when all the dwarves "invade" Bag End. lol
Can't I just say, the whole film?

Riddles in the dark most definately.
:dragon: (I always wanted to use that smilie! lol lol )
But I'd also like to see PJ add a scene that wasn't really in the book, but happened during that time...the meeting between the White Council when they made the decision and then the invasion of Dol Guldur to oust the Necromancer. :fight: :battle:

Hey with the technology they have now, SMaug could look GOOD, I mean look at Draco in Dragonheart? He wasn't too bad. I think they should definately use Christopher Lee for the voice, I imagine Smaug to have a deep mocking voice. I'd like to see the Elves more happy, yes, not so sad. LOTR is coming to the end of the age, so naturally elves would be more happy anyway, since it's not the war of the ring yet. I'd like for them to keep the hobbit as light hearted as I feel it emanating from the books, there is a VERY big change between the Hobbit and the LOTR books, I hope that they feel this too...a particular scene though? Hmmmmn, when Bard shoots Smaug methinks, his lucky arrow
Elfdaughter
October 19th,2004, 12:39 PM
True...The War of the Ring only begins in June, 3018. I think Elves would still be regal and graceful though - I can't picture drunken Elves at all!! lol
Eriu
October 21st,2004, 07:09 AM
Yeah I know ED, but well thats the way Tolkien wrote them, so obviously do THEY get drunk, I once did a picture of that...dunno where it went to... O.o had myself pouring from a silver pitcher and looking funny and I titled it "Do elves get drunk?" Mwhahaha, lets just hope they don't get drunk and start singing the Lay of Luthien, might be some rather questionable words in it huh? :o I hope the movie (IF it gets made, geez I heard ther are mini-wars raging for rights) gets made...it's as lighthearted yet emotional as the book....And I hope Sean Connery IS Thorin, that would be the swankiest dwarf I ever did see. Eriu likes! :naughty:

I'd like to see Smaug, but I think he would have to be done really well...not just your average CG dragon, if you know what I mean! If they do it (I heard that it may not ever happen, but I guess you never know), I hope that Andy Serkis plays Gollum and Ian Holm plays Bilbo. That would make "Riddles in the Dark" amazing!
Elfdaughter
October 26th,2004, 04:41 PM
Ian Holm has to play Bilbo - they made such a gfood job of making him look younger in the prologue - it would be a waste not to - and he's perfect for the role!

My all time favourite part in the book was the Spider fight. I LOVE it when Bilbo yells "Go on! Go on! I will do the stinging!" That just ROCKED! So i'm looking forward to that...as for the elves...when i read The Hobbit i had already seen the movies and i didn't like the elves as well. SO if PJ does it, if he wants to make the more liek how they were in the movies thats fine with me!

I can t wait to see the elves :elf: including the drunken ones... I saw The Hobbit cartoons and I was really scared by the elves :elfeek: they were more likeorcs than like elves.
And I would like to see Beorn too, such a facinating character, and of course Smaug :dragon:

I really want to see Thranduil, and Mirkwood. He's always been one of my favourite elves, and well, from my name, you can tell I'd live in Mirkwood, despite the spiders *shudders* if I were an elf. Besides, the Mirkwood elves have had to fight darkness for a time. They didn't have an elven ring, and that can't be nice. Plus, I like woods, preferably scary woods. Plus, Legolas lives there, and he was my favourite character from the books (which I did read before seeing the movies) Anyway, going slightly off track there, yes I would like to see Thranduil, and Mirkwood, and Smaug! Oooh I love dragons!! They are so...beautiful and graceful, like the elves I guess. (You can tell I love elves)
Anyway, yes, thats what I want to see.

The scenes that I most want to see are the Mirkwood scenes (and they better find someone great to play Thranduil), and the scene where Gandalf, Bilbo and the dwarves are all stuck up in the trees with the wargs beneath them..that is funny and scary at the same time.

The Trolls and Smaug the Dragon!

February 22nd,2005, 10:39 PM
I guess I would really like to see the action sequences:
The Goblins vs. Thorin & Co. -- beginning with the thunder storm, being taken captive in the cave, Gandalf fighting them back, all the way to being stuck in the trees and being rescued by the Eagles... Bilbo's incident with Gollum wedged in between like the place to catch your breath lol
And yes of course, everything involving Smaug lol
Spiders? Ew! No, precious, we don't want to be seeing any giant spiders!

I really want to see the Elvenking's halls and the dungeons - also the "Riddles in the Dark" sequence. I'm very very anxious to see how they portray Smaug - I hope it's something like the John Howe painting.
Another thing I want to see is Bard - he's an interesting character.
I too am keen on seeing the spiders - we all know how well Shelob was done! ;)
If PJ doesn't pick Ian McKellen to be Gandalf I'll eat my socks :p
I wonder who will play Thorin Oakenshield??? :hyper: :hyper:

How cool would it be to see the Elvenking?? :hyper: I hope they pick someone regal-looking... Who do you think would make a good Elvenking? I'd say Richard Roxburgh if he was slightly younger... but then that's just my opinion
Aragorn Isildur
April 5th,2005, 12:38 PM
I'm looking forward to seeing the Trolls discussing how to kill the dwarves in the sacks :( And, afterwards when Gandalf and Bildo find Glamdring and Sting...I think PJ could make that quite an interesting scene with people already knowing the swords now.
And of course the rest of it

This is a very hard question to answer. I think I have several scenese I'd love to see.
1) The Dwarves invading Bag End
2) Trolls
3) Riddles in the Dark
4) Smaug/Iron Mountain.

If (and I hope) they make The Hobbit, I would very much like to see Mirkwood, and of course my favorite part of the book, Smaug the dragon.
I haven't heard to much about the movie, but I think that Peter Jackson should be the one to make it, after his masterful production of LOTR. :-D

Maybe we could see Legolas a minute or two, because he is Thranduil's son ;)
Also, I agree with everyone - there will be no real The Hobbit without Sir Ian McKellen and Ian Holm, or without Peter directing it - it is just how I feel. I think Smaug will look pretty cool. I wonder how the voice will be :-/

Now, now... I woudn't like you to lose your hope, but Gandalf is not younger. He was ever like an old man, because that's how the Istari take shape in Middle-earth.
BTW, I don't think Bilbo needs to be younger to a very high degree because the Ring would keep him preserved. So how he looks in The Hobbit should be almost the same in LOTR, right?

I would like to see Riddles In the Dark the most. And then, Beorn. And then...Bilbo's conversation with Smaug. That might be hard to portray though...cause Bilbo's invisible for that...though, I'm sure PJ could figure it out. Can't forget...the...ever wonderful...Spiders!!! lol And I'd like to see the stuff that happens in the Wood Elf King's house. With Bilbo going back and forth to the dwarves...that would be interesting:grin:

For sure...I personally think that the whole book would be a great movie...it could be as long as ONE of the LOTR movieslol I mean, it's not as big a story...it's probably as big as 1 1/2 books of the LOTR...and I mean books, not parts. 3 parts, 6 books. ;)

I am definitely looking forward to seeing the scene in which Gandalf welcomes the many dwarves into young Bilbo's house, that was hilarious! Gandalf seemed so youthful and playful in this book...I would love to see him portrayed this way in the movie, if one is made...

I'm most eager to see the "Riddles in the Dark" scene, as well as how they do Smaug. I'm kinda hoping that for Smaug, they do motion-capture or something similar – he has to look and feel like a living, breathing creature, and not just another special effect. I'm kinda curious about whether he'll look more like the European or Chinese style of dragon, since Prof. Tolkien was influenced by both... Maybe a combination?
I'm also looking forward to seeing Bilbo's reaction when all these unannounced guests show up at his hobbit-hole. lol And the barrel-riding will be fun, of course. The Battle of Five Armies will no doubt be epic, though it'd be hard to compete with the battle scenes in the LotR trilogy.
And since they're including some aspects of Tolkien's other writings besides Hobbit and LotR, I'd love to see the White Council, and the first meeting between Arwen and Aragorn. Maybe even Gandalf tutoring Faramir! Oh, the possibilities are endless. :)
