I have a quick question about the smiley limit that we have on the posts...
can the limit NOT be 10? I mean sometimes when I'm enthusiastic about something I would like to put more smileys that i normally would. I love the smileys so much here that I like putting more than 10. Can the limit somehow be increased to say, 15 smilies per post?
Just a suggestion... i forgot the original reason for putting a limit to the amount of smilies allowed... so maybe Illu can explain again? =)
thanks~

I'm ready to bet $100 that if we do 15, within couple of months someoned make such a thread about 20 ;)
As to the reason, its simple - smilies from one side load on the server (bad for wotr, which eventually reflects on us too), on the other slow the loading of the page (bad for those unlucky souls which have slow connection).... you might think 10 is nothing, but look it from that side - with the default of 15 posts per page, you get up to 150 smilies (and in the threads where everyone is excited its often close to the 150)... now try loading one of these pages with dial-up... and with you suggestion itd be up to 225 per page. I dont even want to try to calculate the load on the server...
I'm well aware that sometimes 10 is too little and Im no less annoyed than you when I have to edit my post yet again cause Ive put one or two smilies too much and all the smilies look relevant... what can be done is using smilies like (: (; ;-) :-) :D or actions like *jumps up and down*

I had no idea there was a smiley limit. It's no problem for me, as I usually use one.

Good reply Mirky, but before the upgrading of the forums, the smiley limit wasn't a problem...(and there was no limit)
is there a limit now because the forum page has been updated entirelY?

There was a limit... but it was 20... that was just what it was from beginning on and no one looked at it... when the forums were updated and all the options revised 10 looked like a better decision
