Mine personally would have to be the Elves :archer:
They are very tall and elegant and then you also have the VERY cute Legolas :loveyou:

Without a doubt, Hobbits are my favorite everything! They have the purest heart of all creatures in Middle Earth! And besides, Frodo's attitude towards things is especially close to mine.

well the wizards are Maia/Istari so i suppose they qualify......as to races....i love the Elves...always have...and thats even before the advent of Orlis blond elf prince....but the ents are a very close second...
akiba, ents are the tree herders...they were awakened by the Elves and taught speech...they live a very long time and are not, as they put it, hasty....just imagine what a tree with its slow life would think of humans and youll be pretty close....and...

Istari might be accepted as they are changed Maiar (more like a distinctful part of a race. but then they at least have to be called Istari not 'wizards'.

For my part, I love elves mostly because they are graceful, calm, they like to sing and love music...and all other skills they have.. I am myself mostly this way. My second choice is the Hobbits, I love their "bon vivant' way of living and their humor...they are little sunshines in that dark world of Middle-Earth.

im all for hobbits, as for the wizards being a seperate race i recall reading/seeing something that stated wizards are humans only with special abilities. well to tell you the truth, Togo_Bleecker, 'wizards' is simply the Westron word for 'Istari.' The Istari are Maiar, immortal beings created by the Valar, the gods of Middle Earth. The Istari were sent by the Valar to Arda to fight another Maia, Sauron. Men, or Edain, were the second children of Iluvatar.

dwarfs are my second favorite i loved the friendship between blondie- i mean legolas and Gimli. I certainly (and this is hard for me to admit to, if my friends knew i was saying/typing this i would NEVER hear the end of it *-takes a BIG breath-*) admire the elves for all they have done and being so graceful...but i guess i tend to like the small insonificant (is that spelling right?) races better though by the end of the story hobbits certainly do make a name for themselves

men are braver than hobbits thats for sure, even if they are in a race that everyone doubts they do not lose hope and still manage to hang on and eventually reunite! Hobbits well they dont worry about those sort of things. if it werent for the men backing up the courage that the hobbits manage to find..who knows where they may have ended up *-shrugs-* i think all races are valuable, in the movies, the books, and in all of middle earth. Some may be more liked than others but they are useful and fascinating in their own ways

I must admit, before I ever heard about metaphysics, I knew there was something more than magical about the Elves, especially after first reading what Frodo saw from atop Asfaloth. If you haven't read the books, it isn't explained to him until he wakes in Rivendell, but it's a very special moment in the Trilogy for me, because it opens up the door of explanation about what the Elves really are and the destiny to return to the Undying Lands.

Anyone else really like that part?

I often wondered if I was the only one to notice that in the book! That happens to be one of the best parts prior to arrival in Rivendell. The other being all the time spent with Tom Bombadil. His character gave a face to the proverbial "powers that be" in our world! I envisioned him to be the first and last of all races.
