I wouldn't get too excited about Frodo looking like he did in the Fellowship, Elbereth. ;)

But I am greatly looking forward to the changes Elijah Wood made in the character, darker, grimmer, etc. Judging from what I've seen in the trailers and previews so far, I shall not be dissapointed. :)

ENTS!! Treebeard! I could never fully "see" Treebeard in the books (except the eyes), and I'm interested in seeing what he shall look like...that's one interesing-looking Treebeard toy.

And I suppose we don't know who's gonna be his voice, right? Treebeard is a secret...

I want to see the tree hunters carry out there plan of "Let's hunt some orc." I really want to see Aragorn wipe out some uruks. And I'm looking forward to Faramir and Eowyn, I like Faramir alot and seeing the daring and beautiful Eowyn will be great!! but sorry to say i'm not looking foward to Eomor, He looks terrible!!!:( His hair is WAY to long, (Legolas looked good in long hair, but eomor...) and i don't like the mustash. I always thought of him a as a guy buildt simaler to Aragorn, but with short black hair, and no beard or mustash and kind of thine like legolas. Any way, he'll make up for it if he's a good actor and can pound uruks into mince-meat. Oh and seeing Frodo, Pippin and Merry will be great, and Master treebeard.

hey everybody, newbie here,

What about the Riders of Rohan???

My personal favourite from both the books and Raphie's cartoon (shock horror...) has to be the men of Rohan. From Eomer (fearsome fighter) to Theoden (such a noble turnaround, from sick and feeble to his heroic end on the Pellennor Fields), then you got Eowyn (the TRUE female warrior of Middle Earth) and the Rohirrim (Helm's Deep to Pelennor Fields to that last battle on the borders of Mordor).

I'm so pleased with pictures we've seen so far, I really like the Viking/Saxon thing they have going, almost like how I imagined them (Middle Earth is of course influenced by Norse mythology).

Yeah... I'm just as eager to see TT for other stuff (45 minutes of HD - though it won't be all action, think about the way the battle goes, its split in two parts "when dawn comes...") but I'm surprised to see no one has mentioned the good old Riders of Rohan.

Ta.

Lady Ashley
September 7th,2002, 03:22 PM
lol Yes, we've forgotten about the Rohirrim! (Who wouldn't just love that name, Rohirrim!.) I'd like to see them to, and the Eomer-Gimli argument. lol That'll be great.

:"Forth Eorlingas!"

:battle: :archer: :brave:

lol

Narsil's weilder
September 7th,2002, 04:53 PM
Yeah, it was real breathtaking when Theoden asks,
'How many?'
Aragon answers, 'ten-thousand strong'
Theoden, 'Let them come!' :knight:

Real cool. Thats what LOTR's is all about, never give up when the odds are against you.

I always though Eomer as a strong, somewhat muscular bonde with shorter hair than he is in the movie, about to chin length.

No matter what the turn out will be spectacular!

TheRingBearer
September 7th,2002, 05:39 PM
That Aragorn, King Theoden part is sooo cool. I can't wait :whoohoo:

Lady Ashley
September 7th,2002, 07:28 PM
My only problem is, of course, that that scene did not happen...Aragorn never said anything about "they are ten thousand strong." Gandalf and Merry said that...but atferwards. lol But a rather creative way of telling the audience, though!

(*is still currently resting ehr feet at Isenguard with the guys*)

lol

Pil
September 7th,2002, 10:07 PM
I sooooo imagined Eomer differently, I agree! Has everyone SEEN the hair? Its like, hun, if ur gonna HAVE long hair, at least wash it and give it a brush once in a while! lol

I imagined Eomer to have Boromir type hair, same colour...maybe lighter...? Faramir i imagined to have short, russell crowe type hair, but more grey/black than brown.

But i have to agree that the version being used looks much more like boromir than i imagined them to, and i suppose that's a good thing for film viewers. :)

Eowyn
September 7th,2002, 10:38 PM
I agree that Eomer does not look right! But I kind of like Faramir. Not quite how I imagined him but he's not that bad! :shhh:

Lady Ashley
September 7th,2002, 11:44 PM
lol I could, if I tried really hard, to see Eomer with long blonde hair that the Rohiorrim have (and that nice helm with thre horse-tail on top), but no mustache...when I 'thought Eomer' short black hair came to mind, and armor.

As for Faramir...that guy playing him looks very strange. He seems nice but he was nice in the books, but he's supposed to be very....what's the right word? Pushy? in the film.

lol I've finished reading Helm's Deep and I watched the 10 min preview last night. Someone in Helm's Deep Research did their homework about the set.

Daughter of Finarfin

I REALLY want to see the chase of the three hunters. I wonder how they will do it though... in the books we learn about Merry and Pippin through the "clues" Aragorn finds. Since most of the movie is in real time, we will probably see Pippin actually dropping the elf broach and then Aragorn picking it up. It just seems wrong to me if they do it that way. When I first read the books I actually had doubts about them being alive and I liked how the three pieced it all together. Of course this is only for two chapters and then we do read from Pippin's point of view, but I just liked the chase and us (the readers) being as clueless about it as Aragorn.

I am looking forward to Rohan also. I can't wait to see Gandalf "cure" Theoden! I can't really form an opinion about Eomer until I hear him speak and see him in action. He doesn't look very atractive though, does he? I always thought of Eomer as good-looking. Though, the actor is pretty cute in real life. Did anyone ever see him on Xena?

I can't wait to see Edoras... really see it, I mean, not just, you know, small shots of it here and there in trailers... and that was my favorite part in the book, with Wormtongue getting thrown out and Eomer getting praised for his action. And I like Eowyn in the books a lot... so we'll see if she's as awesome in the movie.

Well, I've posted this on too many threads to count, but I am most looking forward to interaction between Gollum, Frodo, and Sam. Its some of the most interesting bits in the book, and I can't wait to see what these three terrific actors can bring to it. :)

My wish is to see Lady Eowyn, for in the trailer she seems impressive and for once there's one kick-*** chick who shows the boys how to fight without breaking much sweat. And she did one thing those boys didn't get to do, kill a Nazgul!!!! (Well, sorry to kill the thrill, but it's all in the book) I mean, I love LOTR, but all this men domination is killing me!! Gandalf's confrontation with the Balrog! Not only is that one of the coolest parts in the book IMHO (besides, of course, Helm's Deeo and Shelob (grrr....)), but we've seen NOTHING about it other than it will be shown in some form, so it's gonna be a complete surprise!

Ought to be really cool...

Orkybash
September 17th,2002, 01:15 AM
Well, it's either they show it or Gandalf just talks about it. You can't just bring him back with no explanation. And considering how they showed Gandalf's escape from Isengard rather than have him tell about it at the Council of Elrond, my theory is they'll show us!

Not to mention the fact that I too saw McKellen talk about it. :)

If you want my theory, they'll show enough to get the story across in the theatrical verison, then put the whole thing on a special edition DVD!

Lissuin
September 17th,2002, 02:09 AM
i do hope they show lots of the sceen! not just enough but more than enough! wwhhhoooooohhhhh!! now i'm all excited for that. it's probably a good thing that i remembered it now than earlier cuz waiting 3 months is still going to be hard!:jester:

Lots of things for me, but they probably wont show half of them :)

I wanted to see Saruman of many colors, (but I hear that's out) and his seductive voice.
Want to see Gandalf break his staff.
Want to see Pippin look into the Palantir.
Want to see Merry and Pippin's greeting of Theoden.
Want to see Treebeard and Wellinghall of course.
Want to see Sam and Gollum's talk.
Want to see Sam slip up about the ring to Farimir.
Hope they make the 'Window on the West' as beautiful as I imagined.
Want to see Stewing of rabbits.
Want to see the first Oliphant.
Want to see Eowyn as Dernhelm.
Want to see exactly what the new steads of the Nazgul will look like.
Want to see Sam talking about the legends and stories that may be made up about their quest, and Frodo laugh about it. (I think they won't go beyond that point to Cirith Ungol until ROTK)
Want to see the interaction of the Orc guards with Merry and Pippin.
And of course Gandalf's return looks spectacular.
Helms Deep is what I least look forward to.

Mostly, I'm looking forward to new characters: Eomer, Eowyn, Theoden, Grima and Treebeard. Also, I'm greatly anticipating Gollum (well, who isn't?) and his actions with Sam and Frodo. Of course, I am dying to see Helm's Deep and the casting of Saruman from the Istari. The oliphaunt would be nice, and of course, so would Shelob, but, we all know the story there verymad... Oh well, the fact that the movie is in 90 days just makes me  ! I can't wait!

It SHOULD look more like a Mammoth! :naughty:
But if not, what is wrong with Indian elephants? Since they are coming with the Haradrim from the south, I supose they could be of either Indian or African type, but bigger. Are the Indian one the ones with the smaller ears?

Well, the elephants being Indian along with the Haladrim looking Indian could raise some racist issues.... but it looks pretty mammoth-like to me, and its huge! I saw a picture of it surrounded by people and its waaaaay to big to resemble any kind of elephant even remotely non middle earth. :)

Yes, that should be a good scene.

Catz
September 29th,2002, 06:10 PM
well, the ents as such werent badly disposed towards most peeps, as long as they werent destroying the trees, but the Huorns disliked people more and orcs still more than that and they were the ones, that killed most of the Orcs from Isenguard...they could move quickly and cover themselves in a sort of shadow...this is from the books mind you....how or what itll be visualised like is hard to say...

Ok Quickbeam. The ents do destroy Isengaurd and stay to keep watch over Saruman. Gandalf, Theoden, Legolas, Gimli, Aragon, and the Riders of Rohan meet there after the Battle of Helm's Deep. They find Merry and Pippin there who they have been searching for since the begining of the TWO TOWERS. There they confront Sauruman the White and take his power from him along with his looking glass.

Contfront the white Wizard Sauruman who tried to currupt them with mind tricks but Gandalf steals his staff and breaks it in 2, thus taking his power. Then when they turn away Wormtounge, the wizard's toad like servant, throws a crystal ball (what is the real name for it?) from the tower's balcony meaning to hit one of them. Pippin looks into and is encanted by it. They leave and let the Ents watch over the tower until they meet them again after the ring is destroyed.

I want to see Theoden. He has always been one of my favorite characters in the books. I can hardly wait to see the horseback action fighting scenes, too. Go Riddermark! Go Eorlingas! Wave that green banner with the Running White Horse!

Speaking of White Horses, I can hardly wait to see the magnificent SHADOWFAX! My mare, Storm, has a huge crush on Shadowfax.

Of course, I want to see the anger of the Ents get stirred up and see some root ripping action on the Tower of Orthanc! I wonder if the Huorns will be in the movie, too!?!? They are very mysterious and eerie.

I can hardly wait for Gollum and Smeagol to carry on conversations with each other, too. I can hardly wait to get a good look at good old Gollum. I hope PJ really does a good job with portraying this creature.

Do you think we will see the Ent make the line and say ferwell to our heros as they do in the book?

November 16th,2002, 03:12 AM
:hooray: Okay I most anticipating:
Eowyn and her complexities (that Aragron, Gandalf and Faramir are, or become, aware of); the interaction between Eowyn and Aragorn; Eowyn; Faramir; shadowfax and snowmane; Eowyn vs the Uruk-Hai in the caves ;) The beautiful Frodo under the growing weight of the ring; Eowyn; the added scenes in Lothlorien; this Grima-Eowyn thing they have going; The adorable Pippin and Merry entdraught ; the growing friendship between Legolas and Gimli; the loyal Sam; Gandalf releasing the spell on Theoden; The Battle of Helms Deep....
[Speaking of which Ronin I hope that rumour you heard is incorrect about Arwen being at Helms Deep in the Caves consoling the refugees. Thats Eowyn's role!!! I'll be livid verymad if they do that i really will. I like Arwen being in it (especially if they restrict her to Rivendell, lothlorien, and Aragorn's dreams) but I wont be if they cut back on Eowyns role to make Arwen into the Elf warrior princess :nono: Grrrrrr]

In short I just want to see TTT!!! notworthy
!!

And in the ROTK I am most anticipating Eowyn vs the Witch King (my most anticipated scene in all 6 books), and all the scenes that take place at the houses of healing, and having a REALLY good look at the White City! Sigh, wish I was there.

In short I am looking forward to the prospect (in about 2 years time) being able to sit down for a marathon 10 hr LOTR-special extended edition screening. OMG!!! Somebody pinch me!

AAH Theodens exorcism is going to win them a grammy for makeup... anybody see the screens of Theodens different stages!!! Just unvelievable...

And im also praying/dreading for Sarumans demise... not the spikey wheel!!!

November 16th,2002, 12:43 PM
Oooops forgot to mention that I'm also looking forward to seeing a glimpse of the Nazgul on their winged steeds :evilcool: , though I guess it'll only be a glimpse in TTT. Oooooo can't wait, can't wait!!!
And yes SirRyktor the makeup changes for Theoden look wonderful.
I'm wondering if someone unexpected will stand out in this movie. Like in the book I really liked the character of Legolas but Aragorn was my main man I wasn't expecting to be as utterly impressed by Legolas as I was. He gave Legolas far more substance than he had in the books. It has to come down to Orlando Blooms movement/style - just special. And Elijah Wood, I find him more and more adorable as Frodo everytime I see it :cuddles: (And the first time I saw him in the movie I thought OMG that's Frodo! Just the way I imagined) Those amazing eyes and alabaster skin :loveyou: Simply and utterly adorable. I think he'd make a great subject for a renaissance styled painting, especially given that wonderful shot of him toward the end of the last TTT trailer (i.e., near the Black Gates looking up and back). This smiley :cuddles: is so so appropriate for him.

Iarfirithwen
p.s. Please, please, please PJ et al don't let Arwen overshadow Eowyn. Arwen's already been the centre of attention and she gets to be Queen etc. Let Eowyn have the attention she so richly deserved in the books ... pleeeeeaaase.

Ronin
November 16th,2002, 04:34 PM
Ryktor, i think Theoden's transformation essentially guarantees TTT's oscar for best makeup...which is fantastic! i simply can't wait to see how they handle it...looks absolutely brilliant

hehe...i think the consensus is simply everything about TTT is what we want

and no worries, Iarfirithwen, i don't think that even with the pushing of the Aragorn and Arwen love story...can't really eclipse the passion of Eowyn's missplaced love.

Iarfirithwen
November 17th,2002, 12:31 AM
Indeed, Ronin, I think you have the truth of it.
I am just so excited by the prospect of seeing TTT (everything, including the things they decide to explore that weren't in the book) that I think I'll explode.
[Damn. I think there should be an exploding smiley!]

I can't limit my anticipation to one scene or person, it's the whole movie:). But I think I'd like to see Henneth Annūn, you know, first sight of my dwelling place.;)

(Hey I agree about the exploding smiley, why don't you go suggest it in the smilies thread under the suggestions forum:))

Wasn't sure where else to put this so it goes here. I was just looking at Der Herr de Ringe, the German site that has the full credits. Well I was looking through the site courtesy of babelfish (translates wepages, in this case German to English) and on a page that had a cast listing it said that Theoden was being played by:
"THEODEN Berne pool of broadcasting corporations Hill "
lol lol (Apparently Eowyn is being played by Miranda Petrol lol, poor Miranda)
[Atleast she's credited on that one higher than Liv Tyler ;) ]

Sorry it just made me giggle
(online translations are always worth a giggle)

I am in a a very Ent mood today. I'm just going to be eating up ANY Ent scenes...

And Quickbeam, I wouldn't get my hopes up. Most people are unanimous that Bregalad will make no appearance... although I know they DID make designs for him so I'm confused there.

And of course, Gollum, my precious... *sees someone's signature* who is starting to remind me of Jonathan Davis all of a sudden.

We loves Smeagol
