Now you're probably expecting me to write something about Viggo in here. Which is understand able being the quiet peaceful person he is but i'm not.

Instead it's about Orlando. Recently Orlando has just joined the Buddhist faith. :grin:

He participated in an hour long ceremony at which he was given a Gohonzon

The Gohonzon is a Scroll with Chinese and Sanskrit Characters on them that should be stored in a wooden shrine and prayed to in Japanese Mantra twice a day. :)

Personally I think this is very cool. I have always likes the Buddhist faith theres just something so appealing about how quiet and peaceful they are and if i could i would join.

but i want to know you're thoughts on this. So what do you think? ;)

Lord of the Rings star Orlando joins the faith at special ritual

HOLLYWOOD hunk Orlando Bloom has taken his first steps towards becoming a Buddhist.

The Lord of the Rings star, 27, took part in an hour long ceremony at a centre to commit himself to the faith.

Orlando, who jealously guards his private life, joined 60 other fledgling Buddhists at the Soka Gakkai International Buddhist movement HQ at Taplow Court Mansion in Maidenhead, Berks.

A visitor said: "He looked really happy. He looked comfortable and quite excited."

He was presented with his Gohonzon, a scroll with Chinese and Sanskrit characters on it.

He had earlier arrived at the retreat on Saturday morning with two guests.

Orlando, dressed in jeans, a camel coloured sweater and shirt, accepted his scroll from centre director Ricky Baynes. An onlooker said: "He shook Ricky's hand like the other people getting their Gohonzons and looked calm.

"When everyone had theirs we all clapped and cheered.

"Afterwards we all had a cup of tea together and Orlando went to the gift shop.

"People were queuing up to get his autograph and have their picture take with him.

"He was very friendly and didn't seem to mind."

His Gohonzon will take pride of place in his home.

It is likely to be kept in a wooden shrine, surrounded by candles.

Orlando will chant the holy Japanese mantra nam-myoho-renge-kyo to the scroll twice a day.

He must also read and recite two chapters from the Lotus Sutra holy scripture.

Orlando, who played elf Legolas in the Lord of the Rings trilogy, has never publicly spoken about his religious faith but has often been seen clutching Buddhist prayer beads.

Orlando, who also starred alongside Keira Knightley in Pirates of the Caribbean, has been dating actress Kate Bosworth, 21, for the past 18 months. They met on the set of a Gap advert last year.

Kate, who lives in Los Angeles is believed to be house hunting in London so she can be near Englishman Orlando.

She is working in Britain on psychological thriller Awake, also starring Helen Mirren.

Last week, Orlando deliberately arrived late to the premiere of Kate's latest movie Beyond The Sea because he didn't want to upstage her on the red carpet.

The couple recently rubbished reports that they had got engaged.

Thanks for posting this! I hope this is true, but I did see something in there that isn't. Orlando and Kate didn't meet at a Gap advert to my knowledge. It was Kate Beckinsdale that he met and acted with in the Gap advert. :huh: Ah, who knows. I do hope he's happy nonetheless. ;)

Good point i've seen that advert and it is beckinsale!! i never understood that unless Kate Bosworth was there too for a different shoot or something.

Well, as for the Gap ad, she might have been, but I think that's just a bit of confusion. As I understand it, they actually met after he was filming PotC. And that was way after the Gap ad. I think it's cool if he is, altho I do know he was raised Catholic. I don't care either way, I'd marry him in a heartbeat.;)

You never know, Laur!!:naughty: He might meet us and...then that Bosworth person-sorry, I insist...she is NO actress, I've seen better acting in a potted plant(just saw Meet Tad Hamilton,did I get the title right? and didn't know she was in it, but the woman cannot act... :o )-will be out the door...or window, whatever comes in handy,lol!! *looks around for support* Right?lol To be honest, though...I think he deserves someone better-I like Kate Beckinsdale, btw!!

Arright, people, who are these 'witnesses' exactly, anyway? They come up with the same mysterious strangers when they say that Orlando was engaged to some makeup artist or that he and Kate are getting married...I mean, Laur already pointed out that they got the Beckinsale/Bosworth thing wrong...:rolleyes:

How recent is it?

I looked it up on Google, and found alot of articles. But they all repeated the same info, and still doesn't make it 100% believable. I'm not saying it's not the truth, but I'm not sure.

Now I have seen pics of Orlando holding Buddhist prayer beads. I've even posted som in the PF, but that's not proof other then he has the beads.

I think they're making some outrageous story up out of his beads (and I believe he has some sort of T-shirt as well...I could be wrong) just to get attention and spread rumors--like something that you believe in with all your heart comes from a necklace. :rolleyes:

Sorry, I was inspecific. :rose: I meant that reports of this sort often tend to have just mysterious witnesses...never any names or identification of any sort--just "a witness" or "an insider" or something like that. If it's true, then we have plenty of time to believe it after there's solid proof. ;)

Well that may be it too, but I don';t buy that entirely. I really don't think they're engaged. Mainly cause I just don't see it happening yet. I think if they're going to get engaged it will happen after she finishes her University years. They is if they make it trou her time at Princeton (I believe).;)

i have a horrible feeling that out of spite they will orlando normally shows no emotion about how he feels about Kate ina n intervirew or on TV. BUT i saw an interveiw on him a while ago and when he was asked about the relationship he fell all googoo eyed and mushy saying that he loved her, either he loves her or they did you-know-what the night before lol
