i'm not sure if this is indeed true, so that's why i'm not putting it in the news, but a drudge report was made that says, well, read it for yourself:

XXXXX DRUDGE REPORT XXXXX SUNDAY SEPT 01, 2002 20:37:49 ET XXXXX

NEW LORD OF THE RINGS 'LEAKS' ON INTERNET -- 4 MONTHS BEFORE RELEASE

The new fuss film LORD OF THE RINGS: THE TWO TOWERS has been leaked on to the Internet, it was claimed on Sunday -- more than 4 months before its release.

In a stunning slap at Hollywood and its ongoing copyright battle with digital swappers, Internet users boldly began trading copies of the latest RINGS on Sunday.

But one AOLTIMEWARNER executive expressed serious doubt that a file is in play.

"I have serious question about this, I am not sure we even have a finished product yet!" said the executive from New York. "I don't know what this is, but if it is the movie, or any portion of the movie, we will impose strict criminal penalties against anyone and everyone that downloads it!"

While the movie's distributor has no legitimate report of a leak, file traders were convinced they had the real movie, which is set for release in December.

Some prereleases that have hit the net recently include the first 3 episodes of the new SOPRANOS season and DVD rips of STAR WARS Episode 2 and SPIDERMAN.

Found on TORN:

Rumour That TTT is on the Internet Appears False
9/02/02, 2:53 am EST - Demosthenes

The Drudge Report has reported a rumour that The Two Towers is already available on the internet. WinMX and Kazaa carry several files purporting to be some version of the film, however they all appear to be fakes. Thanks to Sir Mordred, Moses and several other Barliman's chatters for helping me check these files out.

There is a good chance it is true, and is actually scary, because if one of these people start talking about it, it could ruin the whole experience. I suggest we keep our eyes peeled for huge information from TTT, because it could be them, and we shouldn't look ;)

I have Kazaa, and I am not even going to think about even looking for something called The Two Towers. Its 100% illegal, and they will be punished. Besides, I want to see it on the big screen. I really hope all of this isnt true, but its possible it is

I agree. I'm glad that they're false :)

yeah. it was my mom who showed me that article, she reads those reports. that would have been so dumb if the movie came out in the bootleg community before it hit theatres.

I'm SOOOO HAPPY THAT IT'S FAKE!!

But I have a problem...how did the fakes hit the internet? How come there are "FAKES" at all?:(

Well people just put up a file of any movie and call it ttt.avi or such, then others think it is a copy of the film. It is jsut doen as a prank. Like I could get a large file and name it thetwotowers.avi and share it on direct connect or some peer to peer program. Many people would then try and get it, thinking it was the movie.

The Fellowship of the Ring was available on the internet last year about a week before it was released.

Many insiders leak out copies to friends etc, or press viewings get distributed. Then someone shares it via peer to peer and it spreads across the globe in a few days. Also countries like China and Malaysia tend to have bootleg version kicking about very fast.

I doubt any final version of The Two Towers is out at the moment. Though I would not be surprised if a rough cut appeared in the next few months. Certainly the film will be on the internet on or just before the day of release. Such is the way the world works.

I fully expect we will get offered versions of the film before it opens.

Calm! :)

I heard about this on the radio and i was like "WHAT!!!!!!!?????"

I couldn't believe that people would be so stupid to ruin the release for everyone involved...the makers of the film, the cinemas, the actors...and of course the fans... verymad

But if they're fakes then PHEW indeed! veryhappy

Though i agree that it has re-whetted the appetite for TTT! mecry

Hi Chibimelody, Welcome to War of the Ring.

What pics are you talking about? The ones TORN published or others?

well....no....but really anti climactic to see some bad quality net version when you could see the full on cinematic version...i guess its just a matter of taste, but while im happy to look at trailers on the net, when it comes to the movie itself, give me the theatre every time....i want the full experience...ASAP of course;) lol lol

i think that if i see a bad quality version then it'll make me want to see it more...to see what it's actually like buut i can undersatnd why some people wouldn't want to see it before.
