It was quite bad as the game ended with a fight with the balrog. You completed it once the balrog was killd by you and the fellowship lol

But anyway I couldn't even get past the first part cause you had to find the Gaffer's glasses for Sam so he'd come with you but they were inside a dreary cave just outside of Hobbiton:( lol

OH MAN! I had a SNES for like five years *gave it up for an N64 and soon to give that up for a ps2* and I never knew that!

Wow...I think I do have the system...must find the game, it's probably real cheap now. hehee...a classic!

I should lay off the caffeine, don't you think? :whoohoo:

I tried it, and thought it strayed too far to really get into it. The re-written dialogue was cheesy - couldn't they have acutally used snipits from Shadow of the Past when Gandalf tells Frodo about the ring?

And the caves outside Hobbiton - inhabited by the powers of Mordor, as I recall - were just too cheesy! I don't want to see LotR lowered to the level of a normal SNES RPG.

the thing bout game stores is that they all seem to be quite a bit bigger......ok...so this could be percieved as a good thing but i like EB nad also prices may go up.....not sure about that though.

I played that SNES game. I could never find the gaffer's glasses either. I think it was based (at least visually) on the Ralph Bakshi animated film. I remember those hobbit mullets rendered into 16 bit. roflmao

I remeber bearly, I was only like 5 or 7, I didn't even know what the point of LOTR was, and i had never read the books. I just remeber watching my brother play it, he got to the balrog part, and I remeber having nightmares about him because I thought he was the devil.......:)

Too bad i sold my snes for n64 then Gamecube, I still have my old games, i need to go and seen if I can find it.
