Well if any of you are young or just young at heart, you will know dressing up for Halloween is a great event that we always look forward too. Well my fellow LOTR's fan and I decided to go as something this year that would be easy but recognizable. We have a large group of friends that are into cars but some of us do like Tolkien. We thought all of us could buy a black robe like the ones sold at most costume shops with the inner peice in the hood that is mesh black that covers your face but you can still see. And buy cheap silver rings, medevil metal like gloves, and metal like shoe covers, with a each a long sword and we would be THE NINE! :flamer: I though it such a simple and great idea. We usually go to a outside shopping center and just seeing 9 robed men in costume would looks awesome! Got any other cool ideas?

Thats sounds great! I'm really looking forward to the possiblility of Lotr Halloween costumes, considering I pass out candy every year.
I don't think I'll dress up....... I usually just wear all black and killer make-up... small children fear me.

I'm going to be...something LOTR. Not a specific character, tho. I'm going to certainly have an elven-cloak and my dagger. Maybe I'll carry that bow-saw for a bow...:archer:
heh heh is there a place on WOTR I can post a picture of my home-made Elven-brooches?

I thought about just getting a medievil-type dress and going as Arwen (Galadriel is my fave elf but I don't look much like her. Myabe, if I could somehow procure a blonde wig). It wouldn't take much to go as an elf, if I could find something to make my ears pointy (do they sell pointy ears in costume stores?) and I could just do a couple braids at random points in my hair.

Halloween isn't such a big thing in England as it seems to be in the States but hopefully this year (My first at uni) there'll be a big halloween party or something - a chance to get dressed up - that'd be fun!!

We are goign to have a halloween competition on the site. Don't know what the prizes will be yet but something cool. So be sure get phtographed when you go out folks!
sadly I don't need a costume )-: So my wife says anyway, but she is such a Balrog.
I hope we get some halloweeners though. Sayng that the security entry is not working right so unless its fixed we won't hear the blighters. :-)
But as I say definetly a competition for best costume or such. I may even ask soemone I know who is a bit of LOTR costume expert to judge it...........

For a film me and a friend made called 'Omnipresence' the main demon bad guy was a cloaked figure which look just like a Ringwriath. Basically it was me in a huge sofa cover but the problem was that it was blue so we had to film in black and white to get the effect.
In one scene (which we cut out from the final thing) I turn my head to the camera really suddenly and I look soooo much like a Ringwriath it is unbelieveable lol

Lady Ashley
September 19th,2002, 03:53 AM
lol I'm going as me--sort of. My other self...Lady Ashley Thalionwen. heehee
Here's s uggestion for an axe: a sort wooden handle, and a peice of cardboard in the chape of an axe-head. You cover the cardboard with aluminum foil and there you go! I'll try to send the pic of mine to here for members' photos...if that's allowed. lol
And you'll need a strap of leather to tie the "axe-head" to the handle.

Those costumes are expensive! I ordered a costume from a paypal site so I could use my online account. Mine should be just as good but I'll have to weather it a little so it looks like I have come all the way from Mordor! :wicked:

Yeah. I need to go to a mall and find some nasty looking plastic swords.
Lady Ashley
October 5th,2002, 11:10 PM
I have a short back sword that I used for my LOTR film porject last year, it was "Sting". Now I have a dagger, but for this year's LOTR project, my father cut a long peice of plastic tubing and I covered it with tin-foil (not my characters' prop, a friend's) but it works. *grin*
