Ok..we all watched the movie right? before that we read the books right?

I just want to ask you guys..what ( and why? )makes you want to watch the movie the 2nd time (3rd,4th...on & on & on..).

- Is it because you don't understand the movie the 1st time?
- You fell in love with the movie & need to watch again?
- You miss one scene ( bcoz you went pee pee)?
- You want to watch Legolas:naughty: again & again & again...
- Or other characters..?

but its such a beautiful movie...i dont think i could ever get tired of it...

I REALLY feel like i get taken into a different world when i watch it. It's like....um....drugs, i suppose. I need to get away from the world and enter a fantasy that is so much more appealing. I feel comfortable and happy when i'm talking about lotr and watching it, so i need my 'fix' quite a lot. At the moment my count of watching it is in the high twenties, but i don't watch it if i don't want to, it's not something i try to compete about. I watch it when i need the comfort of middle earth and that's why i will never get tired of it. :cuddles:

Then fell in love with Legolas and saw it again and loved it. ;)

I simply love it... I really can't get enough. It's incredible.

I saw it ten times in theaters and at least a part of it (mostly the whole thing lol) every day since August 6th (that's when the DVD came out here).
I understood the movie (I'd read the books a billion gazillion times)... I fell in love with it... I missed the scene where Boromir takes the ring on Caradhras... and I LOVE LEGOLAS!! Plus I love Boromir, Aragorn, Gandalf, Saruman, Frodo, Pippin, Lurtz, Bilbo, Merry, Sam, Ringwraiths, Arwen, Galadriel, Butterbur, Elrond, Isildur, Durin's Bane, Gimli, Celeborn, Rosie, Farmer Maggot, Asfaloth, Sauron, Gollum, yes and even Haldir!
(Did I leave anyone out? lol)

I really didn't fall in love with Frodo until the last time time I saw it in theartres! (silly me  ) I went because i thought it was very overwhelming! I had to watch it again! I understood it perfectly when I saw it first, I just wanted MORE!... now that I've memorized the entire movie by heart, I only watch it when I need to prove something, or I'm missing that cute hobbit face... I don't want to wear out the DVD!!!!

... who read the books before Video Recorders,DVD etc(!) .. this prob. includes you too Catz(!)... I think that it is like an imaginary world coming to life.
Something with which you have been with for so long... that you just can't get enough of it .. so keep going back for more!
Hope they don't start classifying Tolkien DVD's as a controlled substance.. if so I'm going to jail for a very long long time!!;)

i think the other reason ive watched it over and over is that PJs vision gelled so well with my own...in almost every detail, what was on the screen was "my' ME....the one id had in my head for 20 odd years plus....i was very fortunate in that......and i have to admit to being in danger of wearing out the disc too
  lol

I was the EXACT same way Catz! Wow!

Why watch it over and over and over...

first, because it's beautifully done. the musical score puts a lot into that along with the actors' portrayals of the characters.

second, because I've been waiting for it for so long. Come on, ten years at least...longer for some, but I'm young and was introduced to it at the age of ten or so.

and third, I notice something different every time I watch it. And the dvd helps in finding those things.

I could never tire of it either! I've watched it fifty times since I've gotten it...that whole week straight when I got the DVD.

Well.. I'm one of those people who saw the movie before reading the books. A new theatre was built in my home town last Autumn.. very convinient I must say. :) The first movie I saw there was Harry Potter, and before that movie I saw the trailer for The Lord of the Rings. I had also seen the trailer on TV a lot and I felt that I just HAD to see it.. for some reason. Luckily my best friend (bramblerose bunce) agreed, so we went to see it the day after it's premiere. I didn't know much of the story before I saw it.. not more than was shown in the trailers. I had heard of Tolkien a lot before of course, but I never got round to reading the books.
The first time I was a bit confused at times, mainly about Sauron and Saruman. But that didn't matter much in the end. I still loved the movie. I've always loved adventure stories, especially ones that include a group of friends who would do anything for each other. So I guess that's one reason why I loved the hobbits so much.
Anyway.. I loved the movie so much the first time I saw it, and I just HAD to know what happened, so I ran out and bought the books and read them over Christmas. Then, after reading the books, I obviously needed to see the movie again in January, to compare the two.

After that I saw it again, twice, in the Cinema just because I loved it. It's special when you see it on a big screen as well.. and hear the sounds and music all around you. I had tears in my eyes every time I watched it.
It was just like leaving my world behind for about 3 hours and entering another world. I was totally lost in it. When the lights came on after the movie, every time, I had to stay in my seat for a minute or two just to get back into my world again. I had to ask myself.. "where am I?.. is it winter or summer?" etc. And when you have to do that, you know that you're totally lost in the story.

Now I'm able to watch it at home whenever I want to. :) I bought a DVD player (even if I really couldn't afford one) just because I wanted the LOTR DVD. And I can't understand that TTT is nearly here! I've waited for it for nearly a year.. it's unbelievable that it's only about 3 months to go!! Whooaaaa...

(I would love a LOTR marathon at a Cinema when all three movies have come out. Just imagine seeing all three movies in a row (maybe a short break in between) on a big screen!!!)

Do you really need a reason to watch it again... and again :)

I watched the movie 3 times because I was amazed by the special effects, and because seing the movie gave me a better visual comprehension of the books. In some way, the movie was feeding my imagination and helping me picture the books, which meant it was helping me like them even more.

The movie so long that by the time you get to the end you kinda forgotten the beginning so you just start all over again. Well that's with me anyway
