I love both movies and The Meaning of Life. Life of Brian is probably my fav but some of the quotes from Holy Grail are classic.

"I've built this kingdom up from nothing. When I started here, all there was was swamp. The king said I was daft to build a castle in a swamp, but I built it all the same, just to show 'em. It sank into the swamp. So, I built a second one. That sank into the swamp. So I built a third one. That burned down, fell over, then sank into the swamp. But the fourth one stayed up. An' that's what your gonna get, lad -- the strongest castle in these islands."

She changed me into a newt...
A NEWT?
... I got better

The whole witch scene kills me

Brave, brave Sir Robin, Sir Robin ran away
When Death reared its ugly head
He bravely turned his tail and fled

I soiled my armour I was so scared
Oh, go change your armour

Spank me, oh spank me too

I want to SING...
stop that... stop that singing

Silly English Ka-Nig-It
Dirty doggie bottom biter

Then of course is the Waiter's song

it definately sends people runnig for the hills....

On wednesdays I go shopping
And have buttered scones for tea

Even worse we had a Monty Python themed party where I did the waiter bit from "Live at the Hollywood Bowl". My costume was accurate and quite a bit drafty for this part of the world in late october. I'm not going into detail... you'll just have to rent it to find out.....

be afraid.... be very afraid....:o

I recently bought the "Grail" and "Brian" DVDs and I have to say that even after 20 years, and probably more than 20 viewings in that time, the Biggus Dickus scene in LoB still has me in tears, Michael Palin at his brilliant best.

"Do you find it risible when I say the words, Biggus, Dickus ?"

Oh, and the Latin spelling lesson still cracks me up too...

"Romanes Eunt Domis ? People called the Romans, they go the house ?"

Ilmarė

lol lol Love "The Life of Brian"... Michael Palin was wonderful in it. Still get stomach cramps from laughing so much at the Biggus Dickus scene... especially the bit after...
"He has a wife you know. Do you know what she's called? Incontinentia... Incontinentia Buttocks"roflmao roflmao roflmao

Oh... and Orc.... u bad lad;) lol lol

I love The Holy Grail, too! That insane, violent rabbit...and the knights who are mentioned earlier in this thread...say no more! We used to have a videoclub before everyone had babies popping out all the time, where we watched that type of movies...like all the epsodes of Fawlty Towers! Think I'll have to think about starting that club again...!

Actually I passed Michael Palin in the park some years ago, when he was filming the series of "Around the world in 80 days" or whatever it was called, I'm so lame when it comes to remembering names! Anyway I work in a big furniturestore, and I ususally meet a lot of people in the streets that I can't remember where I've seen before, so I smiled and said hi, and he greeted me like we'd seen eachother a hundred times, before we both continued walking our oposite ways. I think perhaps I had taken ca. 15 steps before I realized who he was! But thats me in a nutshell, suppose I wuldn't even recognize Orli or Elijah if I saw them on the street...NOT cuz there'd be girls swarming all over and if nothing else THAT would make me use my brain!

Ahhh. I just found this thread. How delightful! Because
I was, uh, sitting in the public library on Thurmon Street just now, skimming through "Rogue Herrys" by Hugh Walpole, and I suddenly came over all peckish.

In a nutshell. And I thought to myself, "a little fermented curd will do the trick," so, I curtailed my Walpoling activites, sallied forth, and infiltrated your place of purveyance to negotiate the vending of some cheesy comestibles!

[Not exactly Cuiel Rilwen. They're a couple of the early lines from the Cheese Shop sketch. ;) One of my favourites ]

roflmao!!! I absolutely loove this movie, and all other Monty Python movies...

Brian: I'm not the Messiah! Will you please listen? I am not the Messiah, do you understand? Honestly!
Girl: Only the true Messiah denies His divinity.
Brian: What? Well, what sort of chance does that give me? All right! I am the Messiah!
Followers: He is! He is the Messiah!
Brian: Now, f*** off!
[silence]
Arthur: How shall we f*** off, O Lord?
