Signatures

Hey guys,

Would it be possible if we could have images as our signatures? Most other message boards use them, and I like it much better, because I have a really cool Gandalf one, that I made and wanna use it somewhere LOTR related, and seeing as this place is devoted to LOTR, I thought of it first. What so you guys think about image signatures?

I don't think it's a good idea, personally. I think it'd detract too much from the actual message the poster is trying to get across, and could be very annoying on boards such as the RPG ones. I'm on a few where images are allowed in the sig, and to be honest, I prefer it this way.

That's another reason why I like the fact that only four lines of text are allowed in a sig - it keeps the sig small in comparison to the text and doesn't swamp the message.

Yes, I suppose you are right. I guess I am just too used to having a banner as my sig. But I am fine with the way it is! The site is great! It was just a suggestion, a random one. lol

The boards would, afterall, look much tidier, this way.

I think the main reason is that a site this big uses a lot of bandwidth. Banners within signatures use even more bandwidth. That makes it hard on the site. It slows things down. ;)

Yeah, it slows the things down but I can't resist the temptations to "paint" my siggy a bit ^^. I'm just too used to have some yellow, black & white there ... ^,^

That's been disabled as well, though, and for much the same reason as we don't let people write entire texts in colour. ;)
