Is anyone going as their favourite LOTR character for Halloween? I know I am gonna go as Gandalf! The costume can be hired at a shop near my house, so it ain't that hard. I cannot wait.

What say you?

I made an elf gown and a cloak and bought a wig especially for the occassion, and of course the pointy ear tips. I was just a regular elf - although I used features from Arwen's blood red gown, the armholes from the green coronation gown and a kind of cowel-ish drapping around the neckline like the cranberry gown. lol. Hmm, maybe I was from Rivendell.

Storm, lucky you! I don't have any chance for finding a LoTR costume in Cro. We don't mask ourselves for Halloween, we do it in February or march, so I maybe do have a chance of making my own costume! I hope I will :)

I hope you do too!

What are you going to dress as? An elf? That would be cool.

I was hoping to make a ringwraith cloak.... that way no one could recognise me! lol Just kidding... but I would really like to make one of those cloaks, they look great!
And I would like to make one of these (http://www.scendan.com/frodochainmail.html).

You want to make Orc armour? I would love a Nazgul cloak as well! Thanks for that tip! I know what I am going as next year! lol

lol Cool! If you browse trough that site, you'll see there a page with tips for fake leather armour, which goes above the chainmail.

So, are you going as an Orc or as a Ringwraith?

Ringwraith of coarse...:)

I hate Orcs, I wouldn't be caught dead wearing an Orc costume. lol

Neither would I. But I would wear chainmail under the ringwraith costume ;)

Ah, you see? SCA sites can be useful for more people than just SCAdians! :p lol!

I wanted to, but I didn't have quite enough time. I went as Galdriel last year though. That was fun!

That would have looked awesome, Tari. ;)

:elfqueen: Thanks!

It wasn't really fancy. I started with a Greek goddess white dress that Mom and I had made for my English class's Dionysian festival, then threw the extra fabric over my shoulders and pinned it behind my back for sleeves. I completed the costume with pale make-up, white sandles, a crystal necklace, and a green-stoned ring that could pass for Nenya. Oh, and I cut open a small bottle of water and put glowing blue fake ice cubes in it for a Phial of Earendil prop. It worked pretty well, but sometimes the ices cubes got knocked about and turned off.

All in all, not a bad costume.:elfqueen:

Wow! It sounds wonderful! And you made it all, yourself? That's wonderful. I'm sure you would have looked brilliant in it. ;)
