Hi everyone, I am a new LOTR Fanatic (I swear I watch the movie at least once a week now since its release on video!) I would like to get some feedback from those of you who have read the books (which is probably all of you!): I have yet to read the trilogy, I was wondering if I should read the books now (or at least the first volume now that I've seen the Fellowship) or wait until I see all of the films..........feedback would be appreciated! THX Brina

I agree with Catz! Read them!!

One reason is that you probably want to find out what happens, right!? Another is that, as Catz said, the book will give you a whole new insight into ME.

Good choice, Brina!

A lot of new readers have trouble with the first few chapters of Fotr, but don't give up, those bits grow on you after a while. :)

Yes! The books are too wonderful to pass off for 2 years! If you waited, you would be terribly sorry you waited! I loved them so much i read them in a week! Wonderful book! I suggest you be careful of reading too much on here, for there is a whole lot of discussion that would be major spoilers to you reading the book...

The books really enhance the movie!
The movie really enhances the books!

One's not complete without the other!
Youcan't fully appreciate one without the other!

Once you have read the books then you can begin to understand why all the old fans of the story rave so much about the film. I cannot think of any other movie which has so captured the essence of the book upon which it was based. Considering the complexity of this tale it is down right unbelievable!!

Read them all.. lots of times.... then read the Silmarillion for even greater understanding of the whole of Middle Earth and where everyone and every creature came from!
I am jealous... so much fun that you still have to discover!! Bummer fom me.. grat news for you!! ;)

if you haven't read the hobbit then you should read that first coz it's kinda the build-up to lotr......my dad read it the wrong way round and said that readinh the hobbit after was a huge anti-climax....
