I hope this is the right forum sorry if it's not.

Well anyways, where do you think I could find Legolas fighting knives AUTHINTICALLY with a Certificate of authenticity ( not necessary but I want it to be the exact ones he has. I know it can't be the exact same one but, you know the people who made Lego's make the reproduction.)

And how much around do you think it would cost me, oh and including the scabbards.

Oh and does anybody know how much the quiver is, and maybe with attachment scabbards.

Hey ya Archer,

Our friends over at Arms of Valour have them here (http://www.armsofvalour.com/miva/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=AOVL&Product_Code=UC1372&Category_Code=LR)...they cost $199 and the scabbard is $99 when you get them together.

If you decide to get them from here make sure that you put (WotR) next to your name as I believe they are still running a 5% discount for WotR members.

They also have the quiver, etc., just pop over to the LotR section at AoV.

Hope this helps!

Thank you so much, I found the swords and scabbards but...I didn't find his quiver, and man you can buy elven arrows!!! And you can actually shoot them at animals...well...that's what it said. I wonder if you could use the swords.........hmmmmmmmmmm. Hee hee hee

lol.....too funny...

But yea...you can use the swords too! Well....at least the ones that are marked "battle ready". :p I've got the original High Elven King's Sword and used it to prune our pine tree of all things. lol I'm awaiting the Gen2 version of the sword that they have now which is supossed to be razor sharp.....look out!:battle:

Now ...as to the quiver....I'm not sure...but you can drop TrueSwordsman a pm or call their 1-800 number if you're in the states....have fun!

Illuvator...what does prune mean? Cut it down? That sounds cool, if we can't shoot animals Ithildiel, can we knife em'?? Lol jk.

EDIT: I looked at the daggers and I didn't see the battle ready thing...where would it say it if it said it at all?

Errr....Illu....Battle Ready means battle ready according to renactment rules - in other words, blunt and made from high quality steel that's not going to shatter. There's a difference between 'battle-ready' and 'live'. If you're pruning trees with it, then it's live, not battle-ready.

Prune means to cut it back, not quite cut it down....

Hmm....*pops over to AoV to check..*

Hmm, if you're looking at the ones I think you're looking at (there only being one set of legolas knives on the site...) they're live blades - in other words - sharp. The blade's been tempered, so I'd say they're suitable for use, not just display.

All the blades on the site are live, except for the ones marked 'battle-ready' - they're blunt and suitable for re-enactors.

Re-enactors...like...you hit somebody with blunt metal? Wow... so you mean my Legolas knives wouldn't break on an high (or medium) impact with, something? But where would it say battle ready if it did. Also when you say suitable for use...what does that mean?

OK, there are three (or four) different types of blades:

Battle-Ready - this is what re-enactors use when they go out on the field to fight. The swords usually have thicker blades to withstand very high impact, and are blunted so they cannot pierce the armour of the re-enactors.

Live Display / hanging - these are made from very thin steel, often without a through-tang. They may be live, but these blades will break on low-medium impact.

Live Practical - these are the blades that are sharp, and you can use them - they'll survive a medium-to-high impact hit. However, they won't survive as high an impact hit as the batle-ready swords - due to the nature of the battle-readys, they are built to withstand a lot of high-impact hits. Live Practicals are built simply to be functional, or to be on display.

Looking at the AoV site, the only place where they sell battle-ready swords is here:http://www.armsofvalour.com/miva/merchant.mv?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=AOVL&Category_Code=BW - and as expected, they only have the traditional swords for the re-enactors.

The best thing to do, if you're unsure, is to email AoV, and ask if the daggers are display blades only, or if they could be put to practical use.

I've just had another look, and picked out the most important aspect of the blades, when considering how practical they are:

Blade Thickness: 3/16"
Blade Material: Tempered, 420 J2 stainless steel, sharp-edged. Full length tang construction.

Blade thickness is ok, it's tempered, even if it is stainless steel, and got a full-length tang. Sounds practical to me!

Sorry ED...practical as in...? Fine to use?

Elfdaughter

Yeah, as in OK to use. ;) And use as in cutting things up - just not cutting through armour. ;)

I'd qualify that last category, what will happen is that you may roll or chip the edge if you're wacking something inappropriate with a sharp, but a proper sharp isn't going to have a tang failure (of course if you want to get all historical tang bends apparently weren't all that uncommon, so if you go the ultra historical route and have yourself a sword made from bog iron and aneal the tang, then sure it could happen) or anything like that. Most blunts are actually tempered a little softer to avoid edge failure with the unhistorical edge on edge bashing most groups use.

I'd be careful wacking those stainless steel knives on anything, for one thing they're collector's items, why mess up the value? For another they weren't designed as cutters, display weapons would be the correct term. If you want functional ones a few companies make unofficial replicas.

I was going to buy the Long Knives when I had money. I never did, and now I have no money. I was such a dolt, I kept putting it off.

Suilaid,

I just wanted to comment on the fighting knives of Legolas, I have the knives and the scabbards and they are well made but like Ironhills Dwarf said "don't go whacking them on anything"... They will be worth a lot of money someday.. Hell they are a pretty penny now! LOL and they are beautiful! Anyway, just thought I would put my two cents in....

Wow, they're sharp? How sharp? Like, what might they cut through? I bought the Kill Bill Hatori Hanzo replica sword (the Bride's) and it's not very sharp at all. :-/ Not that I need it sharp, or anything, just would be cool. :p

I see. :) That's cool. The sharpness would add more realness to them.

My UC fighting knives have a false edge... I would think that there are some replicas out there that are not UC that have a true edge... The knives and scabbards are beautiful though. One of my favorites in my collection...

Possibly so. Mine are UC. Not fighting sharp though
