The Silmarillion has very little about the end of days apart from the world being made again and illuvatar and the children singing the ainulindale the way it was meant to be. But what about the battle when Morgoth comes back from the void and the final battle takes place between the brothers Manwe and Melkor, when Manwe comes down from taniquetil. Does anyone have any more information about that?

cos that is one really cool ending

You could look in the Quenta Noldorinwa in HOME 5, I think.

Sorry, let me clarify:
HOME = History of Middle-earth
Volume 5 The Lost Road aand Other Writings

The History of Middle-earth is a series of books which shows the evolution of the Silmarillion and LOTR.
In regard to your question:
If you look in HOME 5: Part TWO: Quenta Silmarillion
§31 Thus spake Mandos in prophecy, when the Gods sat in judgement in Valinor, and the rumour of his words was whispered among all the Elves of the West. When the world is old and the Powers grow weary, then Morgoth, seeing that the guard sleepeth, shall come back through the Door of Night out of the Timeless Void; and he shall destroy the Sun and Moon. But Eärendel shall descend upon him as a white and searing flame and drive him from the airs. Then shall the Last Battle be gathered on the fields of Valinor. In that day Tulkas shall strive with Morgoth, and on his right hand shall be Fionwë, and on his left Tírin Turambar, son of Hurin, coming from the halls of Mandos; and the black sword of Túrin shall deal unto Morgoth his death and final end; and so shall the children of Húrin and all Men be avenged.
§32 Thereafter shall Earth be broken and re-made, and the Silmarils shall be recovered out of Air and Earth and Sea; for Eärendel shall descend and surrender that flame which he hath had in keeping. Then Fëanor shall take the Three Jewels and bear them to Yavanna Palúrien; and she will break them and with their fire rekindle the Two Trees, and a great light shall come forth. And the Mountains of Valinor shall be levelled, so that the Light shall go out over all the world. In that light the Gods will grow young again, and the Elves awake and all their dead arise, and the purpose of Ilúvatar be fulfilled concerning them. But of Men in that day the prophecy of Mandos doth not speak, and no Man it names, save Túrin only, and to him a place is given among the sons of the Valar.
Note that this is not necessarily how JRRT intended this to happened, it was just only his thought at that time.

Maedhros ...

Your quotes have enriched our board! Thanks for that wonderful answer!

Also, what do you guys think will be the Fate of Men following the Last Battle? Are they already somewhere better or will they return to this envisioned paradise? What shall become of the Dwarves and other races? Lots of room for imagination here!

Well, I think that I have read that in the new Arda or Arda Remade, both Elves and Men will gather together with the Ainur to make it a better place.
I would suposse that all races will be allowed to live in Arda, therefore they will live all in paradise.:)

well whatever happens in the end, the tales that tolkien has left us, have really pushed the limits of story telling.

it is fascinating to think, that he has maanged to strike such a balance between reality and history that you end up thinking that these people really exist, or u wish that they actually had existed.

Have you ever imagined what was the source of tolkiens ainulindale, surely he must have heard similar sounds or music somewhere i wonder where?

so many questions...

hey hey hey
do you guys the silmarillion can ever be made in to a film?
i have had several ideas but it would be one hell of a task to try and link so many stories together.
Could it be done in one film? or will it take 2-3-4 like lotr?
But i bet you the battles scenes would be breathtaking, especially fingolfins challenge.

Rumel, theres a whole thread dedicated to Sil being made into a movie. Amon Hen, Hill of seeing/Other Movies/Silmarillion?

With an infinite number of worlds in an infinite number of universes, who's to say Tolkien's world is not real...
