Sorry to have to feel the need to post this here, but we need to drum up as much support as possible.

On 15th December 2005 the British Government announced a twelve week ‘public consultation period’ to consider whether and how to kill badgers.

According to the DEFRA website: “This public consultation (http://www.defra.gov.uk/corporate/consult/badgers-tbcontrols/index.htm) (December 2005 – March 2006) aims to explain the issues and involve the wider public in the process to decide whether or not to cull badgers and the methods by which this could be done as part of the overall approach to control the spread of bTB in England in cattle.”

Many people consider that this consultation is a sham to soften our response to what has already been decided - a mass slaughter of a ‘protected’ native wildlife species.

Leading organisations including the RSPCA and the Wildlife Trusts have already voiced their opposition

But, only a massive public response can prevent the killing.

Just a few moments of your time can make a difference

The web address is :- www.stopthecull.info

The deadline to deter this slaughter is 10 March, and there is every sign
that DEFRA intend to do it anyway, because they just slipped the info out
quietly with the minimum of publicity. Fortunately the badger protection
lobby have acted on it just in time, but there needs to be a much bigger
public response if these bureaucrats are to be deterred.

PLEASE do what you can - just sign the petition. Doesn't cost anything but a few moments of your time.

Thanks.
