It has become apparent to the Staff that participation in the Member of the Month nominations has dropped quite a bit over the past few months. We think that part of this reason is because newer members do not realise that it is a feature of the forums. As the Member of the Month thread is an old thread, although it get’s updated to say that the nominations are Open every month it has become clear that that in itself alone is not enough to advertise the fact that the nominations are Open and certainly don’t tell what it is all about, which is also possibly a factor as to why older members aren’t participating as much now either.
So, what is it all about?
The Member of the Month Award Scheme is a collaboration of Members and Staff and it is a way for us to recognise those who put a lot of work or time into the community or those who post amusing or good comments. Also a way for you to express your opinion on who you think has contributed most over that month.
The way it works is this:
Towards the end of every month the nominations will be opened by me(or Adunauriel). At the top on the forum page you will see the crest of and O encircled by m’s. That is a link to the Member of the Month nomination page. It can be clicked on at any time, but the instructions can only be followed when the writing underneath it says Nominations are open.
After a certain period of time the nominationing time is closed and the nomtions are then posted in the Staff Area and the Staff then vote on the overall Member of that month. Which is then accounced at the beginning the following month.
The Member of the Month receives the Member of the Month Crest to have as an avatar by their name to show their status for the month, and they also can choose a Custom title and Avatar which they can keep for good. They also can have their photo put up in the Member of the Month Gallery which you can see here. (http://www.warofthering.net/forum/vbulletin225/momgallery/)
Now another factor that we think contributes towards fewer people participating the fact that Members do not know when the nominations are open from month to month, which is perfectly understandable seing as it can vary. The Staff have therefore decided to set a fixed time from the 16th of the month till the 26th during the time that the writing under the crest shows green. The only slight variation in this will be in Febuary as the month is that much shorter and the Staff need time to consider the nominations properly.
As an extra reminder it will also be advertised in the callender Events at the foot of the main forum page and will also be advertised in signatures. As well as being announced in the main Member of the Month thread.

This is your way of recognising fellow members. I have put up a list of Members who have been honoured with this title because a member who has already received the Member of the Month title cannot be nominated again for a year. This has been put up on the in the Announcements area Here (http://www.warofthering.net/forum/vbulletin225/upload/showthread.php?t=9487)so that you can take it ito consideration when deciding on a nomination. All members of Staff are exempt from being nominated.
Is there any other way apart from what has been detailed above that you woud like to know about the Member of the Month Award Scheme or any other ways that we could bring more attention to it so that members know when it is open?
