Sorry Ive been away for awhile my dears, but I honestly cant get excited about The Hobbit movie to be honest. Im not putting my hopes up again for a Tolkien classic to hit the big screen anymore. The LOTR movies produced by New Line and PJ were beautiful, but rather disappointing. I know its rather impossible to put the entire world that Tolkien created and story into a film without having changes... However, some things really could have been done differently. Thats then, and whats been done cant be undone ( again, I enjoyed the movies, but frankly my sprits were rather crushed - thats for another form )

My concern is WHY would anyone want to see Frodo or Aragorn in The Hobbit!? They were not mentioned in the book because its "There and Back Again, a Hobbit's Holiday" Not "The Hobbit and the events surrounding the adventure of Bilbo Baggins "

I take it that many want to see the Love story of Aragorn and the Lady Arwen, hints why they are going to spend more money into making an unneeded second movie for the Hobbit. To be honest, if thats the case, it shouldnt be released in Theaters, but maybe a colector's DVD along with the movie, heck, they'll make more money and they wont have to worry about the box office laughing at them... Sorry, got a tad carried away,

I really hope my current feelings about the film change, and that the movie turns out to be a GREAT thing. But Im not getting my hopes up on it... I nearly cried in anger when Arwen took the mighty Glorfindel's place. At least in Bakshi's movie he put Legolas in his place where Tolkien himself said that he originally was going to have Glorfindel in the Fellowship ( hints his breef appearence) but decided that he'd be too great of a worrier, so he gave the Elf Prince a shot. He would have approved Bakshi's change I believe

If Im alone in this... then I need not say more and I shall leave the Shire alone and the merry hobbits in this form continue to wish and dream

Will David Tennant Regenerate into Bilbo Baggins?

The U.K.’s Telegraph newspaper has a report today that actor David Tennant is on the short list to play Bilbo Baggins in the upcoming feature film version of J.R.R. Tolkein’s “The Hobbit.”
The Scottish star leads a list of stars, including James McAvoy and Daniel Radcliffe, vying to play the title role of Bilbo Baggins in “The Hobbit.” The film – which may be split in two – is based on Tolkien’s children’s book prequel to The Lord Of The Rings hit series.
The actor is set to make his debut at ComicCon this weekend on a panel for “Doctor Who.” Also in attendance will be producer Peter Jackson, who is expected to break the casting news. These two events have some fans and media outlets putting two and two together…
“”I think Tennant would be exceptional in the role,” Jackson is reported to say.
Tennant is currently filming St. Trinian’s, The Legend of Fritton’s Gold, and will be last seen as the tenth Timelord in a Christmas special.
Several members of the original cast are returning, including Sir Ian McKellen as Gandalf.
And Christopher Lee – who played Saruman – has announced he would like to come back, too.
The 86-year-old said: “I’ve read the books time and again. Originally Saruman The White and the rest of the wizards, or the Istari as they call them, were immortal.
“When it all started, Saruman was the noblest, the finest, the bravest, the most dependable and reliable of them all, he was number one. But somewhere, somehow, and it was never actually explained, he turns.
“I’d be interested in seeing how that transition from good to evil occurred and, yes, of course I would return to the role if I was asked.”

Interesting possibility... I've only seen a single episode of Doctor Who, but David was fairly good, I thought.

Also:

Producer/director Peter Jackson talked with our friends from SciFi Wire at this past Comic Con about the upcoming Hobbit films:

*The script for the first film is complete.
*Full casting has yet to be decided, but that process is likely to begin after the script gets turned over to the studio which takes place in about three weeks.
*The entire Hobbit saga will take two films which, like LOTR, will be filmed back-to-back.
*Both films will center on the book material and won’t act as a bridge between The Hobbit and The Fellowship of the Ring.
*Jackson reveals why he opted out of the director’s chair and wanted Gullermo del Toro for the center seat.
*Tentative release dates for the films are: Film One - December 2011; Film Two - December 2012.

Great news! Tolkien Estate lawsuit is settled clearing an obstacle to filming The Hobbit.
