My favourite character is... hm... I guess Tom Bombadil. Why? Because he is so misterious and that what attracts me the most. The Ring had no power over him and he could see things in both worlds.

Hmm that's a character not normally included in a favorite character list, but come to think of it, Tom Bombadil is pretty important (in the books). After all, he saved the Hobbits.. twice!
Too bad he didn't appear in the movie!

Yeah. It would have been a story within the story. But I think that was the problem.

well the reasons for cutting him were fairly clear but I would love to have seen him Although I don't know who they'd get to play him

I remember there was a thread long ago that discussed who could play Tom....Robin Williams sprang up, as did Robbie Coltrane. I do agree that PJ could be good, but you'll notice he had no lines, just action...probably NOT the best actor, and whoever did Tom would have had to really act well, so as not to be absurd.

I basically like everyone, but if I had to choose my favourites, I'd pick Aragorn , Arwen , Gandalf , Frodo , Sam and Legolas .

I have to many favorites. Well I'll name them and tell you why.

I love Frodo! His strength of character really moves me. A carefree hobbit being thrown into an adventure he never asked for and coming through with such determination and courage. What more could you ask of him?

Eowyn because she is such a human character. She fights and is not scared! And she's got girl power!

Sam because he brings Frodo through at the most trying times. Never giving up and being so passionate about what he had to do. And also for he great hobbitiness. He is such a sweet character.

Faramir because of all that he went through! He went through a death in his family and puts up with his father. He is the kind of person we ladies all wish to meet. Such a gentleman and a sweetheart too.

I really love all of the characters but those are just a few of my favorites.

Boromir. Definitely.

Also having Tom Bombadil running around a forest and killing zombies without using a shotgun to kill them while he's singing wouldn't be that cool.

From the movies only.
like (adore):
Legolas: he's an Elf, need I say more? He's an adorable Elf, his long blond hair stays perfect during and after each battle. He's an excellent archer (gotta love archers), but the triple arrow was a bit exaggerated.
Pippin: his clumsyness (sp?) is so funny

dislike:
Gollum: he's ugly, he's disturbing, he's annoying

that was just my opinion, hope I didn't offend anyone.

You can't possibly offend anyone here by saying who you like! Everyone's entitled to their own opinions.

I dislike Gollum too, although I find myself pitying him and almost liking him at times.. he's a complicated, well-made character who is absolutely necessary in the story.

One thing I like about Gollum is his schizophrenia. And althought I dislike him apart from that, they did a great job bringing a difficult character like him to life.
