Changes to The Hobbit
I am aware that J.R.R. Tolkien made major revisions to Chapter 5 of The Hobbit in 1951 to make it more consistent with LOTR. My question is twofold:
1. Were changes made to any other parts of the book?
2. Where can I read the original version?

I beleve Tolkien made minor changes thruought the Hobbit at the same time he edited Riddles in the Dark. They were mostly in wording and such; I don't think he made any major-major changes other than the Gollum parts.
I found the Annotated Hobbit at a library a few years ago. It had the original Riddles in the Dark chapter and made notes of most of the minor revisions. I can't remember who annotated it or any other facts about the thing, only that it was fastinating reading. Sorry.
