Now as I look closely, it looks very much like Sauron in his original form! Is this Gorthaur, the Ainu? You can see he wears Sauron's armour...
How awesome if it were!!  I want to see this scene!!

Can someone fill me in on this... I've just looked up Gorthaur & Ainu in my 'Characters of Tolkien' book (HIGHLY recommended) but I still can't figure out this background. :-S I'm confused.

Oh, wow, my first post ever(gets giddy)!
This is the spirit form of Sauron, called Annatar, his "guise of one both wise and fair" that he used to decieve great Kings and lords in ME back in the prologue. Annatar aka Sauron used this disguise to distribute the Rings of Power amongst other things I beleive.
By the way, nice to meet all of you!

ElavielEvenstar, I think I can now figure out that this is the cut scene where Aragorn faces down Sauron at the Black Gates. Dunno what PJ had in mind, but maybe Aragorn sees Sauron in his tricky Annatar form?? Is he trying to trick Aragorn before he attacks him? *confused* *but so excited for the EE, even tho this scene won't be in it!*
