 TheOneRing.net Without a doubt, this is THE best non-official LOTR site on the Internet. They have the latest news, spys, sources and contacts everywhere, hundreds of 'scrapbook' photos - official and not - plus frame-by-frame analysis of both the Internet and theatre trailers as well as a ton of other features: on-line chats, cast info, an extensive list of links to other LOTR, Tolkien and fantasy sites, etc. Put this one in your Bookmarks or Favorites file for sure! |

They are ordered alphabetically (as well as I could - some are known by more than one name), with comments where warranted. If you are looking for a specific site but you don't see it here, check the 'Associated Sites' page, as the distinction was sometimes fairly difficult to make and is somewhat arbitrary. |
 alleycatscratch This site is all about movie clothing, with the link above pointing to the section on LOTR costumes (which at the moment is the majority of the site). Fascinating details for anyone who wants to make an outfit to look like their favorite character (or even just to know what was (most likely) done to create them). |

 (The) Bag End Inn The proprietess of the Inn (Ms Allegro) has a number of tasty LOTR items on the menu - drop by and check them out. NOTE - this site went missing temporarily for a couple of days - hopefully it is back for good now. |
 Bit of Earth This is the 'Official Fansite of Samwise Gamgee'. I suppose I could have put it with the Official Actor's sites, but it isn't official and it isn't about an actor, but rather a character. |
 (The) Council of Elrond When 'Imladris' disappeared, it's forums re-appeared at this site. I'm posting on the 'Movie Pictures' one (under the name Kalayna, the same name I use at Minas Tirith). The link to the currently latest page of that thread is here. |
 Destroy The Ring - Home Page This site is new, and the main pages aren't completed yet, but they already have a very lively set of message boards - check them out here. |
 (The) Encyclopedia of Arda This is a fabulous resource for finding out background information on LOTR characters, places, events, etc. |
 Fellowship of the Wordsmiths All kinds of neat information on Elvish (Quenya, Sindarin and Tengwar) as well as other Middle-earth languages, like the Dwarvish Runes, etc. This is a really cool site! And for a complete list of all the Elvish dialogue from the movie(s), go to this page. |
 Frodo and Sam Celeste has a beautiful site dedicated to Frodo and Sam (though there is plenty of information on other areas also). Highly recommended! |
 (The) Gathering of the Fellowship (Toronto, 2003) In December of 2003 (the 15th to the 17th, to be exact), there is going to be an event called 'The Gathering of the Fellowship' in Toronto (Ontario, Canada) at the Sheraton Center.  Hobbit Lore ('The Book of Hobbit Wisdom' and the 'LOTR Personality Test') The two sections of this site 'pop up' in separate windows, so I can't put in the direct links - they are both well worth checking out though! |

 Lilith of Sherwood Lilith has a good collection of images - including the latest ones scanned in from the 2003 Cedco calendar. |
 Lord of the Peeps This is a very clever 'spoof' site, in which LOTR has been recreated using marshmallow 'characters'. Baillie (from Bree) has obviously put a lot of work into it's creation (glad my site could help you with your storyboards, Callie) - check it out! |
 LOTR Fanatics and LOTR Plaza This sounds like an interesting site - I can't vouch for it personally, as it tends to crash my browser when I go there, but I'm sure that is primarily my fault, not theirs. There is also a merchandise shop on the site, in addition to the forums, list of LOTR links and other sections. |
 Minas Tirith This is primarily a group of discussion forums, but one of them is a place to post LOTR images (and to look at everyone else's). I'm a 'citizen' of the site and my name there is 'Kalayna' - you can check out the latest page of posts here. |
 My Precious This is primarily a Flash Shockwave site, which is cool, though for people like me (on a slow line), it can take a while to load. Still, it's neat to have motion and sound (don't forget to turn on your speakers!). The 'Movie' section doesn't have any new pictures (at least, nothing I haven't seen before), and the 'Cast' section just contains links to the relevant IMdb pages, but go to the 'Art' galleries for a fantastic selection of images by John Howe and Alan Lee, as well as many others. Definitely worth a visit! |

 Ringbearer This site, which had disappeared for a while, is now back and under new 'management'. Locksley and the gang have put together quite a complete package, though you do need to register to visit some of the pages, plus they also have a premium membership, with various privileges and perqs in return for your support.  tLOTR (the Lord Of The Rings) Aside from being a good source of 'Lord of the Rings' movies news, this site also has a really nice webmaster (Thanks for getting right back to me, Richard!). |
 (A) Tolkien Dictionary This is a great idea, but unfortunately, the main page points down to some 'geocities' site pages that may sometimes get overloaded. We hope he'll get a 'real' website one day. |

 (The) Tolkien Network This site has a number of links to other Tolkein sites, but they don't seem to have much that is new. |
 Tolkien Online (was also 'www.theonering.com' or TORC) They have three main webmasters, but David has been particularly nice about putting in links to my site. Their site has a lot of good information, well presented, but for someone on a modem, it is quite slow to load (and it sometimes crashes my old version of Netscape). |
 War of the Ring This group has put together a huge site in a very short period of time. They have a lot of stuff from the first DVD, including screencaps and other multimedia files available for viewing and/or downloading. |
