The Fellowship of the Ring Book Two, Chapter II (The Council of Elrond)

Chapter II:  The Council of Elrond

	Rivendell, also called Imladris, is the setting. Assembled by Elrond to decide the fate of the Ring, the Council represents all the free peoples of Middle-earth:  Elves, Humans, Hobbits, Dwarves and Wizards
	Frodo is introduced to the Council (note - no seat for him yet)
	'The Ring' is placed on the table in the center of the chamber
	<- Elrond and Gandalf / Boromir -> <- Elrond's sons on either side of him      (Elladan and Elrohir)
	Gandalf on far side, center (standing) Aragorn on near side, left (seated)
	Gandalf speaks to the council (Frodo behind him on the left)
The following section contains images related to the tale that Gandalf told at the Council of Elrond, about his imprisonment in Orthanc at the hands of Saruman (and possibly some even deeper background).  There are further images from the Council of Elrond later on this page - scroll down to see them.
