The Quintessential 'Lord of the Rings' Website

New 'Official' ROTK Images (without text)
(& a few others (new) plus older ones for comparisons)
(In 'Book' Order, as well as can be guessed)

NOTE:
Like "Lord of the Rings" in the banner above, these pages were designed to be viewed in the 'Flat Brush' font.  If your computer doesn't show them that way, right click on this link and save the file to your 'C:\WINDOWS\FONTS' folder.

NOTE:  These pages display properly using Netscape, but if 'Internet Explorer' is used, there will be a few anomalies, like no gold borders on the 'small' images.

These images will be integrated with the previously collected ones at a later time
The first set of images are ones from Book Five, as nearly as I can infer:

NOTE:  These images were first released on the official 'Lord of the Rings' site by New Line Cinema on May 17th (I believe), accompanied by the captions you see below in gold text.  Then, on May 22nd, the captions were changed for many of the images, removing references to such things as Shelob's Lair, The Paths of the Dead and the Pelennor Fields.  The new 'sanitized' versions have been added in grey (where applicable).  My comments, observations, etc., if any, follow as a 'NOTE' or in parentheses.

just released today (24May03)

<- Elrond comforts his daughter Arwen

Similarities (Arwen's dress, the chaise

(on the right and below), as well as the
'Art Nouveau' design of Elrond's chair
would seem to favor Rivendell

(the version on left looks identical to

been cropped to eliminate the text,
which I removed graphically)

Frodo and Sam at the Crossroads

The eyes were hollow and the carven beard was broken, but about the high stern forehead there was a coronal of silver and gold.  A trailing plant with flowers like small white stars had bound itself across the brows as if in reverence for the fallen king, and in the crevices of his stony hair yellow stonecrop gleamed.

"They cannot conquer forever!" said Frodo.  And then suddenly the brief glimpse was gone.
The Sun dipped and vanished, and as if at the shuttering of a lamp, black night fell.
